I am supremely pissed off.

This was the perfect reminder…. that I needed to read this morning….

Because I am supremely pissed off.

For real.

No kidding.

Until I was reminded by this post that what , at least in part, was keeping me from feeling energised and unmotivated was the fact that I am feeling pissed to no end.

Why?

Oh hell- here it all is spilled out (pun intended).

And have at it to add your pissed-off-ness at the end as well- we can all be in this together today.

I’m pissed because:

  • Every day I watch people mistreat and ignore each other.
  • The political systems that we all live under don’t take into account our actual humanity.
  • I can’t find a decent bagel where I live.
  • Technology companies are able to know more and more about us while we know less and less about them and what they do with out information.
  • I can’t seem to figure out how to do everything I think I’m supposed to every day and I know that it’s impossible and still I try to do it anyway.
  • I actually love my life and I hate that I can’t find better and more ways to help other people love their lives. (Seriously)
  • Someone broke the emblem on my new VW and didn’t bother to leave a note of apology.
  • I feel stuck in writing my book and I’m frustrated by that which gets me pissed which keep me stuck… endless cycle riiight?

So what did I just learn?

I learned that “feeling pissed”, more often stems from a feeling of helplessness about a situation. We feel ticked off when we can’t see a way to effect change.

More than that when we can’t see a way to effect change towards a positive outcome.

How to effect change, EFFECTIVELY

Having seen what is at the root of my pissed-off-ness I also see the following ways out/through/around it.

  1. Take a break. Like Tom Kuegler says, give yourself a break and stop whatever you are doing. I’d add that this can also mean. GO DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD FOR A MINUTE. (And I know….. you might just be too pissed off to even contemplate that right this minute and so I say… go do it the f*#k anyway and see what changes.

2. Shift gears. Start another project, HELL, go do some laundry or make a fresh pot of coffee. No matter what you choose, you are breaking the cycle that builds up your frustatrtion to the breaking point.

3. Exhale 3 times. I swear this one works wonders. You don’t even have to worry about the inhales.. just exhale 3 times and pay attention to each exhale as it happens. Make them smooth and long-ish and not forced. Notice what your body and mind feel like afterwards and then…

Hit the next task that you CAN do.

Many thanks to Tom Kuegler for the prompt today! Love yah!
