How Did I Get Here?
On The Illusion of Time, Willingness and Growing Up.
It started slowly, and then it happened all of a sudden… in a rush I realised that I was fifty-five years old.
I know…
You’re probably shaking your head and saying to yourself… “come on! it doesn’t really just creep up on yah like that, yah must have noticed that all those years were going by”!
Well… yes and no.
Yeah… sure I’d noticed that I’d been on the planet for a while. Long enough to have had at least three major careers and done a whole bunch of seemingly random but very interesting jobs. But what I’d not really paid any attention to was how I was changing.
I was aware that I’d learnt a lot of stuff- that I knew how to do a lot or think about a lot. I’d collected information and learnt ways of problem-solving, so thats one way to be noticing that I’d put in a decade on this earth.
Catching your own attention
What I hadn’t paid so much attention to was how I had changed physically. Sure I’d noticed that climbing trees took more effort, but I was still climbing them, wrapping my arms around…
